Located in Lima, Shattell works closely with indigenous Peruvian farmers from various villages to acquire the highest quality cocoa beans available. With a focus on single origin cocoa beans, each variety of Shattell chocolate contains the unique flavours of each village, collectively offering a panorama of the richly diverse flavours that compose Peru’s prominent chocolate culture. Using only certified organic ingredients that are fair traded, Shattell has received several international awards and is among the first producers to use 100% natural Peruvian ingredients. What Makes Shattel Different?
Shattell chocolate distinguishes itself from other dark chocolates in three meaningful ways:
- All the ingredients are organic and fairly traded.
- The cocoa comes from the Criollo tree. This is the rarest source for cocoa, used in only about 5% of the world’s chocolate production. Criollo cocoa is preferred for the highest quality chocolate.
- The cocoa used in each bar is single origin, meaning it all comes from the same village. The natural and complex flavours of each bar come from the unique growing conditions in each village.
Tingo Maria is situated between Peru’s Andean highlands and Amazonian jungle. The biodiverse national park is a sanctuary of waterfalls and famous landmarks, including Sleeping Beauty and the Cave of the Owls. A marvel of natural diversity, the essence of Tingo Maria persists in its in the soothing yet complex flavours of chocolate produced from its cocoa beans.
